Hardship, Healing, and Hope

How God Still Moves in the Lives of His People

Why I wrote this book

Perhaps one of the most comforting verses in all of Scripture is found in Malachi 3:6: “I the Lord do not change.” Similarly, Hebrews 13:8 tells us that “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.” Do Christians and non-Christians alike really embrace this truth today? Or do we feel that the God of ancient days is no longer involved in people’s lives like He once was?

I seek to prove that God has not changed by sharing “modern-day Bible stories” with the reader – stories that are often remarkably similar to those found in the Bible. These stories reveal three characteristics of the Lord: He works through hardship, He brings healing, and He is our source of hope, all the while showing that His nature remains unchanged throughout history

The kinds of stories shared

God loves telling stories through people’s lives. What may be surprising, though, is just how similar God has been telling these stories for the last six thousand years. For example, a girl blind from birth is healed like the blind man in John 9. A pastor escapes from prison just as Peter did in Acts 12. A woman’s hope for a child is realized just like Hannah in I Samuel 1. In the present day, God is moving inthe lives of people just as He did in Biblical times. These modern day stories have almost gone unnoticed – until now.

The book is much more than just storytelling

I did not want to write a book that was a mere collection of incredible stories. That was not God’s purpose with the books of the Bible either. The stories were shared so that we would also consider the practical and spiritual applications that were presented. Likewise, in God’s ongoing story through the lives of His people down through the centuries, He has much for us to learn if we have an open mind and a willing heart.

Who the book is written for

I wrote this book to encourage followers of Christ (both new and seasoned) with the fact that the Lord still works in people’s lives just as He has for thousands of years. I believe God also wanted me to engage the skeptics and unbelievers, who think that He just sits back and watches mankind scurry about in a futile search for significance. So I wrote this book with “the masses” in mind, and believe it contains a message for everyone.

On the back cover…

Do you believe that God moves in your life, I mean that He is really actively involved? Every day in countries around the world, God is moving in the lives of people just as He has done for thousands of years. He is creating stories remarkably similar to those in the Bible, demonstrating that He truly is the same yesterday, today and forever – and He wants to work in amazing and supernatural ways in your life too! God can work through your hardship, He can bring you healing, and He longs to be your present and eternal source of hope.

Take a journey around the world within the pages of this book and see how God weaves His story through people’s lives, and in turn, uses their stories to teach us practical and spiritual lessons. This book will encourage and inspire you to live for the God who cares for you deeply, and who wants to share the incredible story of your life with others.
